Experience a once-in-a-lifetime adventure on this brand new 11-day Alaskan Explorer Cruise. Admire the wonders of nature as you journey to Mendenhall Glacier from Juneau, learn about the history of the Klondike Gold Rush in Skagway and get up close to bald Eagles during a nature and wildlife expedition in Haines.

Spend two days marvelling at the spectacular views of Glacier Bay; the world's largest biosphere which showcases majestic glaciers, snow-capped mountain peaks and an abundance of native wildlife. Enjoy a dock walk through Petersburg’s boat harbours led by local fishermen and discover the rich Alaska native culture in Ketchikan.

Look out for orcas, sea lions and porpoise as you journey through the Inside Passage, spot black and brown bears along the shore line and see the awe-inspiring vertical cliffs of Tracy Arm which have mesmerising waterfalls cascading off them.

Itinerary

Day 1 Juneau (Alaska)

Embark American Constellation in Juneau.
Day 2 Skagway

Skagway was central to the Klondike Gold Rush of 1879 and is known as the Gateway to the Yukon. The town has been restored yet is true to its intriguing past with vintage streetcars and gold-rush-era buildings. Enjoy a spectacular ride on the White Pass and Yukon Route narrow gauge railroad into British Columbia. Then take a bus tour over the scenic Klondike Highway and explore historic Skagway's many attractions. (Please note: Passport is required to participate in this excursion).
Day 3 Haines

Enjoy a guided historic walking tour of this small town to see the first permanent Army Base of Alaska, learn about the history of Chillkat Valley, visit Soap Suds Alley and explore the famous Hammer Museum. Alternatively, choose the nature and wildlife expedition to see Alaska's magnificent nature in six different wildlife habitats including the ocean, estuary, river, lake, muskeg, and rainforest.
Day 4 - Day 5 Glacier Bay

Comprised of massive glaciers, temperate rain forest, and snow-capped mountain peaks; the mighty Glacier Bay is the world's largest biosphere. Admire the breath-taking views and witness native wildlife including seals, whales and bears as you cruise through this remarkable natural wonder.
Day 6 Petersburg

Founded more than 100 years ago by Norwegian fishermen, Petersburg is a thriving fishing community that maintains its strong Norwegian heritage and continues to make its living from the sea. This authentic Alaskan town is surrounded by beautiful wilderness and boasts a pretty seaport. Enjoy a one hour narrated dock walk through the boat harbours led by local fishermen and fishery biologists. Or visit the Clausen Museum which preserves the area's history and tells the story of the people who have lived and worked in Petersburg.
Day 7 Ketchikan

Located in the midst of the Tongass National Forest, Ketchikan is home to black bears, mountain goats, Sitka black-tailed deer, and bald eagles. Embrace the incredibly rich Alaska native culture and enjoy the scenic views of nearby Misty Fiords National Monument. Enjoy the Ketchikan Duck Boat tour which provides up close views of local fishing canneries and the waterfront community. Travel by salmon ladder on Ketchikan Creep to view the spawning grounds and learn about the colourful past of Ketchikan.
Day 8 Wrangell

Discover the city of Wrangell and walk among the petroglyph carvings as you enter the "Gateway to the Stikine River." Admire the variety of landscapes in Wrangell including mountains, islands and rainforest and visit places along the river where miners camped and garnets were mined during the Gold Rush. Explore Wrangell’s famous anthropological sight, Petroglyph Beach and witness a rich assortment of artefacts in the Wrangell Museum during the Wrangell Experience tour. Alternatively, climb aboard a jet boat and explore the historic Stikine River.
Day 9 Cruising the Inside Passage and Frederick Sound

Admire the amazing scenery as you cruise through the Inside Passage. Look out for whales, seas lions and porpoise in the waters and spot bears along the shoreline.
Day 10 Tracy Arm

The long, narrow fjord of Tracy Arm leas to the mile-wide South Sawyer Glacier and showcases 1,500 foot-high vertical cliffs with waterfalls cascading over the sides.
Day 11 Juneau

Disembark American Constellation in Juneau.
